Munsonisms mid week (sort of) update- In which I give a glimpse into my activites and offer an opinion and an apology of sorts
You may have noticed that yesterday yielded no Milestone column, yes your friendly host dropped the ball. For that I am sorry. There is a somewhat good reason, and that reason is that next Friday I am going on vacation! “Now what the heck does that have to do with late columns for the website Jeff?”, you may be asking. Basically I have been working more hours to prep the pharmacy and covering staff for my absence. Top that off with the fact that for the last two weeks I have been doing the job of two men as my pharmacy technician was out sick (very sick, but he is doing MUCH better now). Fate smote my plans down with the mighty hand of bad timing my friends! Ultimately when I get home, I am too pooped to write properly, so the blog has suffered.
Now I am not complaining because let’s face it, I am going on vacation, but I didn’t get the stuff done on the website that I wanted to because of outside forces. Will I get things back on track this weekend? Well, I will be honest and say I am going to try my best as I am working the weekend at the pharmacy on Saturday and am the on-call pharmacist on Friday & Saturday. That leaves Sunday to get two more Milestone Week (yeah that term just doesn’t apply at all now) columns to wrap up the Shadow War and I think that is do-able. So needless to say check back here on Monday for the next issue of Static and hopefully Tuesday for the last part of the Shadow War… Shadow Cabinet #0.
Now on to happier items, such as my niece’s 2nd birthday party. This past weekend was a trip down to Kingston, MA for niece Kara’s 2nd birthday party. Yup, she is named after Supergirl! Well, as far as I am concerned she is, her parents can deny it as much as they want, but I know the truth. It was a good time, but there were WAY too many people for a 2 year old’s birthday party. Too many people screaming Kara’s name = cranky pants niece. Things turned out great for her, she just didn’t like all the noise. Here’s a picture from her unwrapping activities:
Yeah she’s pretty much the cutest thing in the world, and she said my name before anyone else’s (including mommy and daddy) so she has earned a special place in my heart.
As I said vacation time is coming, and myself and the wife and both sets of parents are heading down to Orlando, FL. to enjoy the sights and sounds of Universal & Disney. We are staying at the Hard Rock Hotel, which is where Jessica (my wife) and I stayed for our honeymoon 5 years ago this past September 28th, so we have that to celebrate. My parents have never stepped foot in Florida, so I am eager to see their faces when they are confronted with the awesomeness that is “The Happiest Place on Earth”. So much has changed down there since Jess and I were last there 3 years ago, that I am giddy with excitement at flying down there next Friday.
On the comic book front, I read Green Arrow/ Black Canary #1 yesterday at the shop (Comicazi) and was pleasantly suprised in just how good it was. Not wanting to spoil anything I will stay as unspecific as possible here. Cliff Chang’s art looks great, and Winick managed to pull off a reveal that everyone must have seen coming, but in such a way that tied things neatly into the overall DCU plans very well. Check it out, if you hadn’t planned to already, and you may like it.
