Who IS the Munson?

Yes it’s time once again to venture into THE ABYSS for this weeks HIDDEN STINKER & HIDDEN GEM!!!!!!

To start, let’s look at this week’s GEM……. SCOUT #1

This series was so damn good it wasn’t even funny, telling the tale of Emmanuel Santana as he wages war on the government he used to serve so that he may destroy four legendary Beasts. Crazy stuff happens in this series folks, so if you haven’t read it before I highly suggest it. (I am going to start re-reading it myself!)

This week’s STINKER doesn’t even come from THE ABYSS, it is a loan from my fellow comics enthusiast Aaron Trites….. World Championship Wrestling #1

No your eyes don’t deceive you, this was a comic put out by MARVEL in 1992, and it was about the now defunct wrestling organization WCW. This book is so bad it’s almost good….. ALMOST. Aaron lent me 1-4 and I have to wonder just who in the hell at Marvel thought this book would be a good idea. You’d think that the comic would be about the WCW wrestlers fighting evil do-ers wouldn’t you? Nope, someone in their infinite wisdom thought that translating wrestling matches into a comic book story would make for good reading…. they thought wrong. Just look at this page and you be the judge (The captions are the two announcers as they “call” the match, just so you know)

WOW, riveting stuff! And to think there’s 22 pages of that! Luckily this is one STINKER that won’t contaminate the rest of my collection, as I will return these to their rightful owner.
